This study day has been developed by the inter-disciplinary team at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital to focus on the child’s journey from tertiary to community services. It is hoped that learning from this event will promote better co-ordination and communication between the various professionals involved. Acquired brain or neurological injury can occur as a result of trauma or other less common causes e.g. tumour, stroke, encephalitis, transverse myelitis and Guillain-Barre Syndrome. The management of children with such injury and their families pose distinct challenges to multi-disciplinary teams in the acute, post-acute and chronic phases of their rehabilitation.This study day has been developed by the inter-disciplinary team at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital to focus on the child’s journey from tertiary to community services. It is hoped that learning from this event will promote better co-ordination and communication between the various professionals involved. The event will be of interest to professionals working with children with acquired brain injury, including: paediatricians, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychologists and other professionals from hospital, community and education services.The day will consist of inter-disciplinary lectures and break-out workshops on:
