Neuroimaging is becoming the most useful surrogate marker for the testing of new therapies to treat some diseases of the nervous system.

p51yvu9qb9eyriz Neuroimaging techniques that, until now, have been mainly in the realm of research are entering the clinical arena. For instance, MRI voxel-based volumetry morphometry is likely to be used soon by clinicians in the diagnosis of cognitive impairment. It allows for a much more probable diagnosis of Alzheimer’s versus other degenerative dementias than simple clinical or neuropsychological testing. A corollary is that the neuroimaging phenotype will be used much more often to determine which genetic tests, if any, are needed for a given patient. As a result of these scientific developments, as well as the use of ultrafast neuroimaging for the management of stroke, the role of the clinician in imaging is becoming much more important.p51yvu9qb9eyriz p51yvu9qb9eyriz
