Elsevier is pleased to present four
Young Investigator Awards to Neuroscientists annually on the basis of the scientific merit of an original, high quality research paper accepted for publication in Brain Research.

The articles that are eligible for the awards will be reviewed by a panel composed of the Editors and a number of Editorial Board Members of the journal. Each award will consist of a monetary prize to the value of US$3,000. A certificate will accompany each award.

To qualify for a Young Investigator Award, the applicant must submit a full-length research paper to Brain Research electronically via the Web, and must be the first author of the paper. Further, he or she must be aged 40 years or less at the time of the Award, and must be able to demonstrate that their input to the research described was substantial.

The article must be accepted for publication in Brain Research [to end 2005: or in Cognitive-, Developmental- or Molecular Brain Research] before December 31st to qualify for the Awards of that year.

The names of each year’s awardees with the titles of the winning papers will appear in announcements published in the journal as well as on the journal’s Homepage (www.elsevier.com/locate/brainres).

Applications should be made as follows:
1. The application for an Award should be included in the electronic
bcovering letterQ accompanying the submission. (Applications made at a later time may exceptionally also be considered.)
2. The application should be followed by certification, in writing and mailed separately, from the applicant’s Departmental
Chairperson, or Principal Investigator, verifying the role of the Applicant in the submitted work.

This should be sent to: Dr. Floyd E. Bloom, c/o Brain Research Editorial Office, Elsevier, 525 B Street, Suite 1900, SanDiego, CA 92101-4495, USA (Fax: +1-619-699.6855; E-mail: bres@elsevier.com)

3. Applicants are requested also to notify the Publisher of their application (by E-mail to Mike Wilk, Senior Publishing Editor, Neuroscience, Elsevier: m.wilk@elsevier.com)

N.B. The deadline each year for applications to be received and the respective articles to be accepted for publication is now December 31st.

The journal’s Guidelines for Authors can be found at www.elsevier.com/locate/brainres.
